The CNY is an impassioned, youth-driven force at the heart of the Greater Toronto Area, dedicated to elevating awareness and fostering unwavering acceptance of invisible disabilities. Our unwavering commitment revolves around not only shining a spotlight on these conditions but also reshaping societal systems to embrace neurodiversity. We achieve this through relentless advocacy, rigorous research, and deeply immersive community involvement.
About

The Coalition of Neurodivergent Youth was born out of a deeply personal journey of a group of passionate youth in Toronto who have firsthand lived experience with neurodevelopmental disabilities. This journey was marked by the persistent feelings of exclusion and indifference within neurotypical systems, particularly in education and the workplace, which often ill-equipped to support or understand the strengths and needs of neurodiverse youth.
The chronic challenges faced served as a catalyst for a shared vision - a vision of empowerment, acceptance, and community development. They believed that the differences that made them unique were strengths to be celebrated rather than obstacles to overcome. It was this shared conviction that drove them to take action.
We wanted to envision a world where neurodiverse youth wouldn't have to navigate life feeling isolated or misunderstood, and our dream is to live within a society where neurodiversity is not only acknowledged but embraced, where every young individual, regardless of their background, ancestry, gender, abilities, or socioeconomic status, had the opportunity to thrive.
Their shared commitment led them to establish "The CNY." Their mission was clear - to raise awareness and acceptance of invisible disabilities, to transform systems to be neuroinclusive, and to empower neurodiverse youth to become leaders in their own right. They were driven by a desire to create a space where parents and youth could come together to learn, grow, connect, and develop as leaders.
"The CNY" was founded not just as an organization but as a movement driven by the lived experiences and unwavering determination of its founders. They believed in the power of collective action and were determined to build acceptance, break down barriers, and make a lasting impact on the lives of neurodiverse youth. Through multifaceted advocacy, meticulous research, and robust community engagement, they set out to turn their vision into a reality.
Today, "The CNY" continues to carry forward the spirit of its founders, working tirelessly to ensure that neurodiverse youth have the support, resources, and opportunities they need to bloom into the leaders of tomorrow and to create a world where neurodiversity is celebrated and embraced.
